Shalima L. McCants

1st Vice President/Program Chairman

Shalima L. McCants is a transformational and impactful leader who has dedicated her personal and professional efforts towards creating pathways for success with a focus on leadership development and coaching for young women. Since her initiation into the Omicron Eta Chapter in February 1999, Shalima has held various leadership positions in the sorority on a local and regional level. Shalima has served as an active member of the Zeta Nu Omega Chapter for the past twenty years, where she has served as the chapter's Hostess, 3rd Vice President, Graduate Advisor, Parliamentarian and is the 1st Vice President-Elect for the 2024-2026 term.

Equipped with 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Shalima serves as the Chief Program Officer for the New York Urban League. She implements the strategic vision for its education, employment, and advocacy initiatives while developing and managing volunteers and corporate partnerships. Shalima earned her Master of Social Work from CUNY Silberman School of Social Work and is a licensed Social Worker with post-graduate training from Columbia University.

Shalima is known as a connector who uses her passion as a thought leader to leverage her experience and relationships to support, empower, and coach others. She is an active member of the National Association of Parliamentarians - Westchester County, a member of the New York City Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, and an Advisor to the New York Urban League Young Professionals.
